What are the preventive measures against COVID-19?

Question

Preventive measures against COVID-19

COVID-19 is a severe respiratory illness caused by a novel coronavirus called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Widespread adjustments to daily living were made when the virus expanded globally and became a pandemic.
Physical and social segregation, stricter cleanliness procedures, and wearing of protective facial coverings are also used as prevention strategies.
Advice on how to use these preventative measures most effectively is also growing as the epidemic spreads. Below is a list of the most recent recommendations for all preventative measures.

Social and Physical Distancing

The act of keeping a 2 metre gap between oneself and people outside is known as social and physical distancing. Anyone living with the sick individual should keep a safe distance from them at all times.

People over 60 and those who have underlying medical disorders that could cause major difficulties should keep their distance.

Facial Coverings and Masks

Face masks alone won’t stop the spread of SARS-CoV-2. They must be employed together with other prophylactic measures. Face masks come in a variety of varieties, and as a result, there is a variety of advise on how to put them on, take them off, and wash them safely.

Clean hands with alcohol hand rub or soap and water for 20 to 60 seconds before donning a medical mask. Use only brand-new masks; avoid using worn-out or damaged ones. Also, avoid touching the mask while it is on.

Only the straps behind the ears need to be touched to put on a medical mask. Typically, medical masks contain a metal strip that needs to be squeezed when used for the first time in order to conform to the contour of your nose. Infected particles cannot enter or exit the mouth or nose because of any gaps in the mask.

Clean your hands before removing a medical mask using the straps. Never touch the mask’s front. Pull the mask away from your face as you lean forward.

As soon as you remove a medical mask, dispose of it in a container or bin that is closed. They can only be used once.

Personal Hygiene

One of the most important COVID-19 prevention measures is consistent and thorough hand washing. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer or rub with at least 60% alcohol if soap or water are not readily available.

After using hand sanitizer for 30 to 60 seconds, wash your hands with soap and water for 20 to 30 seconds.

If you haven’t cleansed your hands, you should refrain from touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.

After you cough or sneeze, wash your hands right away and dispose of used tissues properly. Cough or sneeze into the elbow rather than the hands if you are around people who are not wearing a face mask. When sneezing or coughing, avoid spitting.

Surface Cleaning

Every day, disinfect and clean all frequently touched surfaces. Fomites are things that can spread viruses. Use detergent or soap, water, and a home disinfectant to clean surfaces.
