Home Remedies to Stop Eye Twitching – Myokymia, or twitching of the eyelids, can be brought on by dry eyes, eye irritation, eye strain, lack of sleep, or an excessive amount of caffeine. Eyelid spasms that are severe or persistent could be symptoms of various diseases.
Myokymia, often known as an eyelid twitch, is a recurrent, uncontrollable spasm of the eyelid muscles. Although it can happen in either the upper or lower lids, a twitch typically happens in the upper lid.
These spasms are typically minor and feel like a slight tugging on the eyelid. Others might feel a spasm that is severe enough to make both eyelids totally close. For a minute or two, these spasms often happen every few seconds.
Home Remedies for getting rid of eye twitching
- Avoid Caffeine – Tea, coffee, some soft drinks, and chocolate all contain caffeine, which in some people can aggravate or induce eyelid twitching. Consider gradually cutting back on or eliminating your caffeine use.
- Take Screen Break – Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break from your screen to gaze at something that is 20 feet away. Your eyes may be soothed as a result.
- Warm Compress – The muscles surrounding the eyes can be relaxed and spasms reduced by applying a warm compress to the area of the upper eyelids.
- Banana – Lack of potassium and magnesium is one of the main causes of eye twitching. Bananas also aid in the prevention of ocular spasms because they are rich in both of these minerals.
- Reduce Stress– Since stress is associated with eyelid twitching, lessening stress might be the answer.
- Sleep Well – A twitching eye can be cured if you take more rest, both in terms of quantity and quality.
- Rose Water – Use cotton to dip it in cold rose water and compress your tired eyes with it.
