Health Benefits of Pearl Millets – Pearl millet (scientifically known as Pennisetum Glaucum)belongs to the family Poacea, is an energy packed grain that is cultivated during summer season.

It is one of the best millet around the world and also it is mostly grown in Africa and India. Pearl millets that is sweet in flavour are used for making flour and other food stuffs.

Kamb koozh

The pearl millets is usually known as Bajra in North India. Bajra porridge is a healthy drink that is best during summer, because it prevents heat strokes. In tamil, pearl millets are called as Kambu, so this drink is also called as kambu koozh.

For this drink, take a mud pot and add 1 cup of bajra powder into this. Then add 5-6cups of water and mix well to get a liquid that is free of lumps. Heat this and keep stirring to avoid the formation of lumps. If it get thicken, you can add more water to get a liquid form. When it gets boiled, switch off the gas and let it cool. After that add 2cups of curd,salt as required, few chopped green chillies and coriander leaves. Have it chilled.

Note:If you are facing any digestive issues, try to avoid eating bajra.
